A Hostage Released
Sadly, I didn't get a lot of fun time with Dad this week, with my being held against my will at the hospital, but on my first day of freedom, we did as much fun stuff as I could manage.
After radiation, we went to IKEA, which is a favorite pastime for my family. There was no way I was walking through that whole store, but they had wheelchairs. I've never had people get out of my way so quickly.
Since it was right next to IKEA, I took Dad to Total Wine so he could scope out the aisles of tequila and craft beers.
After that, we went to a great hot dog place Dad had been itching to try. I know. My stomach probably wasn't ready for hot dogs, but I took an Imodium and ate it anyway, and it was delicious.
We needed to make a Target run, so I got one of the little scooters to cruise around on. Dad could walk faster than my top speed, and those things have an awful turning radius, but it did make the fun beeping sound when I backed up. While the wheelchair at IKEA made everyone instantly feel bad and move, I got my first "she doesn't need that scooter" glare at Target. For the record, there were 2 more at the front. I was depriving no one, and fainting sans transport nurse to catch me seemed like a bad life choice. Sadly, no photos taken on that one.
By then, I was dead, so sis took Dad and their cameras to the mountains to take pictures. I meant to take a quick nap and then start writing thank you notes, but then I slept for 3 hours instead. They brought home barbecue, which we had to fight to keep away from the beagle. All in all, a fun day.
