Hello, my name is Daanielle Wilson.

In June 2017, I was diagnosed with Stage 2b Cervical Cancer at the age of 34. I had a 7.5 cm tumor and received 35 rounds of external beam radiation, 6 brachytherapy treatments, 6 weekly chemo treatments, 5 blood transfusions, but no partridge in a pear tree.

I started this blog while I was in treatment to keep my family and friends updated, but also because I couldn’t find a single account of what to expect from an actual cancer patient. I wanted to know if radiation hurt and the best gentle cleansers for very sensitive skin, but could only find patients describing their emotional state. That’s important, too, but I wanted the hard facts from a first-hand source, not a clinical cancer society webpage.

My hope is that this blog entertains and provides some insight to anyone who reads it, whether you’re a cancer patient, caregiver, loved one, or just curious about cervixes.
